Signing up for your first firearms course can feel intimidating — especially if you've never handled a firearm. Good news: these courses are built for complete beginners. Here's what a day with us actually looks like.
Classroom theory
You'll start in our multimedia classroom learning the fundamentals: the ACTS and PROVE safety principles, firearm types and actions, ammunition, safe storage, transport, and the law. No experience needed — we explain everything from the ground up.
Hands-on practical
Then you'll handle real firearms in a controlled setting. Every training firearm has been deactivated and rendered unfireable, so it's completely safe while you learn to load, unload, carry and store different actions with confidence.
The tests
To certify you'll complete a written exam and a practical handling test. Our instructors won't let you be tested until you're ready — and our pass rates reflect that. Bring a piece of government-issued photo ID and something to write with; we provide everything else.
After the course
Once you pass, you'll apply to the RCMP for your licence (see How to Get Your PAL in BC). From there you're on your way to safe, legal firearm ownership.
Beginner-friendly, hands-on, and taught by national-champion instructors with 40+ years of experience. Pick a date and register, or call 604-562-7546.
